2017

Capture Education names Gene Lawhun President and Chief Operating Officer. Gene has been with Capture Education since 2010. Gene was previously Chief Technical Officer before moving over to Chief Operating Officer in October of 2015.

2016

Capture Education becomes a ProgressBook Certified Integration Partner, representing a best-in-class solution to complement and enhance the ProgressBook user experience.

Mike Sayre takes the reigns as Interim Chief Executive Officer to drive the vision of Capture Education into the future.

Capture Education releases the ScheduleSMART Pathway Advancement to College and Career (PACC) product to help schools monitor and guide students in state pathway and industry certification programs.

2015

In late 2015, Capture Education releases an integration with PowerSchool SMS, a leading web-based student information system designed to meet the needs of large, urban districts.

2014

The Ohio Chamber of Commerce nameCapture Education a finalist for the 2014 Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award.

Capture Education secure$1.2 million in funding from North Coast Angel Fund LLC, Columbus’ Ohio TechAngel Funds, Fast Switch Ltd., and individual investors.

The Education Division of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) names Capture Education a finalist for the 2014 Innovation Incubator Program. The company exhibits at the 13th annual Education Industry Summit in May.

Capture Education moves out of the New Albany Inc@8000 business incubator to a permanent office space in New Albany, Ohio.

The Innovation Ohio Loan fund approves Capture Education for a $700,000 loan to help the company expand.

TechColumbus names Capture Education a finalist for the 2014 VentureNEXT Startup Awards.

Capture Education renames the “ScheduleSMART Advanced Placement Technology” (APT) to “ScheduleSMART Optimal Placement System” (OPS) to better reflect the benefits of the scheduling system.

Starting with a single client and a concept three short years earlier, ScheduleSMART is used to create smarter schedules for over 250,000 students across the country.

2013

Capture Education releases the ScheduleSMART Accurate Placement Technology (APT) that allows schools to use attributes such as learning style, interests, test scores, and grades to automatically build a master schedule. The product also ensures that students are placed where they are most likely to be successful.

The K-12 Technology group of Pearson Education, the world’s leading education services company, signs an expanded Independent Software Vendor (ISV) partnership agreement with Capture Education. The deal sets the stage for Capture Education to develop an integration with Pearson’s Star_Base Student Information System.

Capture Education releases an integration with ProgressBook, the Student Information System developed by Software Answers, Inc.

2012

Capture Education releaseScheduleSMART, the first-of-its-kind automated scheduling software tool. ScheduleSMART’s Automated Scheduling Technology (AST) uses teacher effectiveness data to produce a more effective master schedule and drive improved instruction.

The K-12 Technology group of Pearson Education, the global leader in education and learning technology, signs a partnership agreement with Capture Education. The deal establishes Capture Education as a Pearson Independent Software Vendor (ISV) and allows Capture Education to develop an integration with Pearson’s PowerSchool Student Information System, its first integration with an SIS.

TechColumbus nominates Capture Education’s ScheduleSMART for a 2012 TechColumbus Innovation Award in the category of Outstanding Product. The product goes on to be selected as a 2012 semi-finalist.

Capture Education releases an integration with STARS, the Student Information System developed and used by the New York City Department of Education.

2011

Capital High School in Santa Fe, New Mexico signas Capture Education’s first ScheduleSMART customer.

Capture Education hires Gene Lawhun as Chief of Technology. Gene’s job is to turn the ScheduleSMART software concept into reality.

2006

Capture Education Consulting Services, Inc. is started by Mike Neubig, a high school teacher, coach, and guidance counselor. Capture Education’s mission is to help drive school reform and equality in educational opportunity.

During the next five years, Capture Education partners with school reform agencies and provides consulting services to over 900 schools in 45 states on how to use performance data and implement procedures that would enable better instruction. Capture’s hands-on research and development of processes lead to insight and inspiration for the revolutionary tool to come, ScheduleSMART.
